Flat Tire Co. Kids Camp

We’re excited to offer our first kids program at Flat Tire Co. This year has been fun so far with the local youth! We had the opportunity to host our first kids race out at Roaring Run in May. Kids group mountain bike rides will be going on all summer long. Camp is only three days this July, at only about $120 a day we hope you can squeeze us in your schedule. We’ve got six spots left! THE PLAN

Camp is Friday., July 26 to Sun., July 28 and will be 3 days, and 1 night of camping. Kids from 7 to 13 are eligible for camp. Kids will be dropped off at the bike shop at 9am both Friday and Saturday morning. We will take care of hauling them around, please pack your child a lunch! This is a three day camp focused on helping increase kids confidence, skills, and love for riding mountain bikes!

WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL NEED

DAILY GEAR NEEDS:

  • Helmet

  • Mountain Bike (rentals available)

  • Knee and elbow pads (optional)

BACKPACK WITH:

  • Change of clothing

  • Swimwear

  • Towel

  • Extra Shoes

  • $20 for misc. ice cream and snack stops

CAMPING GEAR

  • Please provide a sleeping bag

WHAT IS INCLUDED FOR YOUR CHILD

  • Flat Tire water bottle and t-shirt

  • Snacks (fruit, granola bars, pretzels, goldfish, water, juice)

  • Pass to Big Bear Lake + Trail Center, Water Park, Mini Golf: Saturday + Sunday

  • Meals

  • Transportation to ride venues

  • Professional guidance and instruction

WHAT WE WILL DO

FRIDAY: JULY 26 - DAY ONE AGENDA

9AM Drop kids off at bike shop

LOCATION: OHIOPYLE STATE PARK

10AM - NOON

Today we will practice gearing up, braking, shifting, and body position. Upon arriving we will set up an obstacle course and play games focused on the fundamentals. We will also cover how to maintain our bicycles.

LUNCH 12PM TO 1PM

Lunch brake and visit to the Cucumber Falls. Lunch will be sponsored by Wellness on the Point.

1PM TO 2PM

After lunch we will take time to apply skills and focus on balance using bridges, skinnies, and bike games.
We will talk about uphill and downhill riding and how to ride safer and faster. We will see obstacles including: logs, roots, and rocks. Children interested will have the opportunity to see and do drops (1/2 ft - 2 ft high). Let’s go shred some single track!

2:30PM TO 3:30PM

Opportunity to swim and get ice cream and talk about our new skills!

5PM Arrival at shop for pick up

SATURDAY JULY 27TH - DAY TWO AGENDA

9AM: Drop the kids up at the bike shop or plan to carpool down to Big Bear and join us.

LOCATION: BIG BEAR LAKE CAMP GROUND + TRAIL CENTER

10:30AM TO 11:30AM

Once we arrive staff will set up camp while we have a short bike maintenance clinic and snack.

NOON TO 2PM: Today we will practice applying skills in a single track setting and go ride the Big Bear Kids Loop

2PM: Lunch and chill.

3PM TO 5PM: Trip to the waterpark on premise at the camp.

6PM: Camp cook out/ hang out

9PM: Bedtime

SUNDAY JULY 28TH - DAY THREE AGENDA

7AM-8AM: Breakfast

9AM: Prepare our bikes and get ready to roll. Today we will focus on fueling and preparing for a longer ride. The fundamentals from the past two days will get us through the day!

NOON-2PM: Lunch + Mini Golf

3PM: Hit the road, arrive at the shop between 4:30 and 5pm.

5PM: Pick up at shop
