The Flat Tire Co. staff is excited to offer our first children’s program in July of 2019. This is a five day camp focused on helping increase kids confidence, skills, and love for riding mountain bikes.
Scholarship opportunities available thanks to Team Flat Tire Co. sponsors, find application at bottom of page. Winner will receive a free entry into kids camp and a free mountain bike in the appropriate size from Kona Bikes.
DATES: Wed., July 24 to Sun., July 28.
LENGTH: 5 DAYS, 1 NIGHT.
CURRENT COST: $650 per camper, with discounts on siblings. January 1st price increase.
WEEKEND CAMPING: We will provide a tent for your child, please send them with a sleeping bag, pillow, and pad. Parents are welcome to join in on our weekend adventure, let us know if you are interested. If so…you get stuck putting up your own tent.

TRANSPORTATION: Drop kids off at bike shop for shuttle to and from venues.
WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: DROP OFF 9AM. PICK UP 5PM.
SATURDAY: DROP OFF/MEET 10AM FOR WEEKEND CAMPING + RIDING.
SUNDAY: PICK UP 2PM AT SHOP.

WEDNESDAY - DAY 1 OHIOPYLE: CONFIDENCE
Today we will practice gearing up, braking, shifting, and body position. Upon arriving at Ohiopyle we will set up an obstacle course and play games focused on the fundamentals. We will take a break for lunch then ride on the kids mountain bike loop to apply the basic principles from the morning. Post ride we will explore town and the water falls...probably grab some ice cream.
THURSDAY - DAY 2 YELLOW CREEK: SKILL BUILDING
Today we will focus on drills specific to handling a bicycle in a single track setting upon arrival. Following our skills clinic we will visit the beach and have lunch. Post lunch we will ride parts of the PICL kids race course and talk about racing bicycles. During our ride we will focus on maintaining energy, fueling while riding, and enthusiasm for riding. There will be an option to take swim at the lake before we leave, pack your swim wear!
FRIDAY - DAY 3 SEVEN SPRINGS: APPLICATION
Today we will focus on balance using bridges, skinnies, and bike games. We will talk about uphill and downhill riding and how to ride safer and faster. We will see obstacles including: logs, roots, and rocks. Children interested will have the opportunity to see and do drops (1/2 ft - 2 ft high). Children must be 8 years old to ride the lift, our younger member will be able to practice skills outside of the bike lift trails. Your child must have a full face helmet and pads for this day.
SATURDAY- DAY 4 BIG BEAR: ADVENTURE
Drop the kids off by 9am or meet us to join for a day of riding at Big Bear!!! Once we arrive staff will set up camp while we have a short bike maintenance clinic and snack. Today we will practice applying skills in a single track setting. Following our ride children will be taken to the water park on premise. We will end the afternoon with a campers menu of hot dogs, grilled cheese, moon pies, and smores. If your child has any dietary restrictions please let us know.
DAY 5- END OF OUR ADVENTURE
Wake up Sunrise. Some cowboy coffee for the adults. Camp kitchen breakfast of bacon, eggs, and toast. Children will be welcome to join us on one last ride before we depart or participate in mini-golf. We will eat lunch before departing, see you at the shop at 2pm.
