Pisgah Spring Trip


DETAILS

DATES: Sunday April 8th - Monday April 14th 2019

COST PER PERSON: $550 for week OR $175 per day

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced

LODGING: Brevard, NC

A peaceful retreat in private woodland and 5,000 square feet of cabin-style living space await up to 19 riders. Nestled on 80 acres by the Gorge State Park, this 6-bedroom, 4-bath home features an in-ground summer pool, and hot tub, bike maintenance area, fireplaces, and a furnished deck. Enjoy easy access to tons of mountain biking, dozens of waterfalls, trout fishing, rock climbing, hiking, the Biltmore House, countless breweries, and more.

SUNDAY: TRAVEL DAY

Arrive whenever you can. A Flat Tire Co. staff member will meet you at our lodge and provide your assignment. All reservations include a twin bed, queen by request (for two people).

MONDAY: DUPONT FOREST

Yoga/Stretching: 8:00 am

Breakfast: 9:00 am

Leave for Trailhead: 10:00 am

Ride Details: Dupont West Side Tour - 20 miles, options to do less.

Big climbs, big downhills, and gorgeous scenery! This is an advanced-intermediate tour of the western side of Dupont State Forest.

Afternoon Activity: Trip to the Hub

TUESDAY: PILOT ROCK + PILOT COVE

Yoga/Stretching: 8:00 am

Breakfast: 9:00 am

Leave for Trailhead: 10:00 am

Ride Details: Pisgah Long Tour - 26.7 miles, no alternative ride this day.

Take in two of the best and most challenging downhills including Pilot Rock. What goes up must come day it will be a challenging but fun time!

Afternoon Activity: Trip to Brevard Brewing Company

WEDNESDAY: SOUTH MILLS RIVER

Yoga/Stretching: 8:00 am

Breakfast: 9:00 am

Leave for Trailhead: 10:00 am

Ride Details: The Great Eight - 23.4 miles, options to do less.

This is a great mid-distance route including a long gated gravel climb, rocky rooty goat-track descents where you'll need to pick your line and control your speed, creek crossings, lung-buster climbs, rock gardens, and super-sketchy suspension bridges.

Afternoon Activity: Trip to Oskar Blues

THURSDAY: BENT CREEK

Yoga/Stretching: 8:00 am

Breakfast: 9:00 am

Leave for Trailhead: 10:00 am

Ride Details: Bent Creek Epicito - 20.6 miles

Bent Creek is a good intro to Pisgah. This route features several sections of hard technical climbing with no hike-a-bike, the epic-ish descent of Green's Lick, and the full Explorer Loop #337, Pine Tree Loop #336, and most of Deerfield Loop #335. Plus other fun stuff.

Afternoon Activity: Trip to Ecusta Brewing Co.

FRIDAY: KITSUMA/HEARTBREAK MOUNTAIN

Yoga/Stretching: 8:00 am

Breakfast: 9:00 am

Leave for Trailhead: 10:00 am

Ride Details: Kitsuma & Heartbreak Mountain - 37.8 miles OR alternative 10 mile route.

This ride features a little bit of everything over on the Kitsuma side, while providing a longer alternative to doing only Kitsuma. Riders may choose to do only Kitsuma if they want and can expect around a 10 mile ride.

Afternoon Activity: Stop in Ashville for post ride lunch and check out Industry Nine.

Optional Afternoon Activity: Pisgah Stage Race Awards Dinner + Trip to Reeb Ranch
