The Laurel Highlands Composite Mountain Bike Team was founded in 2023 and is open to students grades 6-12 who attend public, private, or home school in and around Westmoreland County. We currently recruiting children Greensburg, Hempfield, and Latrobe. Funding for our team is made possible by Flat Tire Co. Bike Shop and our other generous sponsors.
What You'll Need
You’ll need a helmet and a functional mountain bike. Need help? Stop by the shop we're happy to help you set up your bike properly, discuss bike maintenance, and suspension set-up. Mention your participation on the team to unlock exclusive savings. Scholarships and bicycles are available for the season for athletes in need.
SPRING
Start forming teams or recruiting new members:
Coaches to Leaders’ Summit, a weekend-long educational conference. Late March.
Pre-season events (Fun oriented events, bike maintenance, ice cream rides, skills)
SUMMER
Practice may begin on July 1st, generally 2 times per week at Laurel Mountain State Park. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday.
Coaches – WFA-MTB (Wilderness First Aid training)
Racers – Skill Clinics
